Climate change is one of the most critical global issues today and the financial services industry is key to developing an effective response to the threat. As a non-profit organisation that represents Board Members from 80% of licensed FIs in Malaysia, FIDE FORUM firmly believes that the Boards of Directors have a critical role in leading and driving this initiative forward in their respective FIs. The implications of climate change on financial stability and the economy can no longer be ignored. FIs and the Private Sector have both the responsibility and ability to improve the nation’s overall preparedness to manage the impacts of climate change, as well as to mitigate ESG risks and support the critical transition towards a low carbon economy.
